.:raising the veil

The Italian politician Daniela Santanchè - already known in chronicles for her middle finger - was part of a heated debate with an Italian muslim authority (read bbc source), Ali Abu Shwaima; the topic? Women and veil.

My personal opinion is obviously that there should be freedom of choice for women to wear or not the veil, avoiding in any case to cover the face completely. I don’t know if muslim religion precepts or suggests this, but this is not acceptable for women in Italy and Europe.

Mrs. Santanchè, against veil for women: “A veil,” she said, “is never a symbol of liberty and it is not required in religion”. Mr. Shwaima was quite upset by her invasion of field and loudly named Mrs. Santanché an “ignorant on islamic religion”.

The italian government decided - incredibly, in a single day - to offer police protection to Mrs. Santanchè, who was feeling threatened. Apart from the problem itself, religious opinions, common education and mutual respect… should we give police protection to all ignorant people?

.:is Max gay?

Episode I: who’s that guy?

It’s a few months I have this series in mind. As every other, it starts slowly: but more excitement is on its way! And very very important: big prizes and treats! Ricchi premi e cotillons!

Disclaimer: Max is an invented name. We want to protect the privacy of people around us. Uhm… do we really? LOL. Yes, yes, we do want.

The open question is: is Max gay? He is one of my roommates. For a better understanding, let me explain the shape of the house. There’s the front door, facing on a corridor. Immediately on the left there’s my room while on the right there’s the living room without a door (just the arch).

Moving forward the corridor, Max’s room is on the right: so anybody going from Max’s room to the door through the corridor can be seen from the arch of the living room, and also from my door, if I leave it open.

I guess it was nearly… hmmm… September? and I was chilling in my living room. I hear some noise coming out from Max’s room but I wasn’t paying much attention to it.

Well, noises stop and Max jumps into the shower. Cool. While he is still showering and I’m still on my computer in the living room, I see this guy leaving the house. Short trousers, big aviator glasses, adjusting (hint: that’s the word: *adjusting*) his wife beater.

He passes next to the living room’s arch. I see him. He sees me. I look to him through the glasses with an interrogative glance. He completely ignores that. How irritating! He just sneaks out. Without saying goodbye. Rude!
