.:raising the veil

The Italian politician Daniela Santanchè - already known in chronicles for her middle finger - was part of a heated debate with an Italian muslim authority (read bbc source), Ali Abu Shwaima; the topic? Women and veil.
My personal opinion is obviously that there should be freedom of choice for women to wear or not the veil, avoiding in any case to cover the face completely. I don’t know if muslim religion precepts or suggests this, but this is not acceptable for women in Italy and Europe.
Mrs. Santanchè, against veil for women: “A veil,” she said, “is never a symbol of liberty and it is not required in religion”. Mr. Shwaima was quite upset by her invasion of field and loudly named Mrs. Santanché an “ignorant on islamic religion”.
The italian government decided - incredibly, in a single day - to offer police protection to Mrs. Santanchè, who was feeling threatened. Apart from the problem itself, religious opinions, common education and mutual respect… should we give police protection to all ignorant people?
